I always use this Garnier Nutriesse color 80, so this was not my first time trying this product. The product listing does state that “packaging may vary”, but both the exterior packaging and contents are different than what is currently on store shelves. The little oil vile package in current store boxes is not included in these boxes. Maybe it used to be pre mixed in with one of the other bottles?
Aside from packaging and contents, the chemical mixing instructions were easy to follow and I was able to tackle the color application by myself. I really like that there is no overly harsh chemical smell, it washes out well with shampoo and the little tube of conditioner makes my hair feel great! It doesn’t look or feel dried out after coloring.
The day after coloring, a good friend (that I see regularly) asked if I colored my hair darker. I hadn’t mentioned coloring it at all, but told her “no”. I’m not sure what she sees, but it looks the same to me and I’m very pleased with the results.

This Garnier hair color is amazing! It’s easy to use, smells good, and leaves my hair super soft and shiny. The dark brown shade looks natural too. Definitely my go to!

I really like this product. As a male I still like to keep my hair looking good as it now is more patchy grey than uniform or salt & pepper. This product leaves my hair soft and I like that there is a very subtle blue to the dark black that you really can only see when the light hits it just right. I do use pomade hair products so that might change the color slightly when styled but I am happy with this and will continue to use this till my hair has more grey than black.

Wow. Where do I begin? I have been buying Garnier soft black for a few years now and I was very happy with it. Colored my hair well and looked nice. Faded a nice color too. When I bought this recently, there was some big changes. The solution was harder to squeeze out of the tube was one thing I noticed. The dye itself is very thick now. It wasn’t easy to mix it in the bottle. I had to actually mix it in a bowl. The dye was developing into a nasty looking greenish brown color instead of a dark brown color. I thought this was a bad batch until I saw that it was improved, so I was thinking it was going to develop the nice dark color. I was absolutely wrong. My roots were a diarrhea green looking color. The dye is not only an ugly color now, it doesnt dye very well either.
I decided against dying my brows this time because I was losing more faith that this would turn out well, and thank heavens I didn’t. My skin was still stained this nasty diarrhea color even after a couple of days. I quickly found another box dye that is almost the same color as the old formula. I much prefer the old Garnier formula because the smell was less strong and it wasn’t as liquidy as this other dye I found. The other dye I used to fix the green is L’oreal Superior Preference in soft black. Keeping my finger crossed that this can be my new dye replacement because I doubt Garnier will go back to the old formula.I firmly believe that Garnier did not do any quality check before introducing this god awful new formula. The box said that the color was “improved”. What an absolute load of bull. Their soft black is now more of a greenish brown. Like, how do you mess that up? I noticed it’s now vegan, which is cool, but I’d rather have the old formula back.
TL;DR: Don’t buy the soft black color, it’s a ugly greenish brown due to a formula change. I used L’Oreal Superior Preference in Soft Black 3 to fix this green nastiness.

I love this product and have used it for years. Usually order 4 at a time. But this time when I went to use it, it appeared to be old and thick. Color in the bottle turned green!!! Now have to dump all four boxes and run out to buy locally. Disappointed and won’t be ordering these from Asntls again.

I wanted to try a more commercial hair color because the results with my regular brand were only lasting for a couple of weeks. However, I found this color to be too strong for me, and the results were not that effective. Not sure if I will buy it again.
